The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

what should i do with this xtra account?

so on tuesday i started up a new account... for no reason other than because the name was open (it's a 13 digit number, the first person who can guess it gets a free art request from me... something within reason, not just anything. XD).

in total i have 4 deviantart accounts:
this one where i post my original artwork

i share (LWR-related strips and things)
and account #3

which i started last year and haven't talked about at all with anyone (i planned to upload pictures of food, but so far all i have is a painting of an apple and a photo of deep fried ice cream XD)

i don't want to fill account #4 with the kinds of things i have have/plan to have in the others. i was thinking of filling it with photos i could be taking for my personal reference anyway, or maybe copies of other people's artwork i drew as part of my studies in art (copies of stuff from comic books, pictures i found, etc...). but maybe those things are boring and my watchers have better ideas.

so i have this account i started just because i can, but i'm not sure what to put in it. any suggestions?
